Stenico is a town of some historical importance, Stenico is situated on a sunny mountain side bounded in the north by the Dos della Forra peak and in the south by the Sarca gorge. The municipality includes the districts of Seo, Sclemo, Premione and Villa Banale.
 In the Middle Ages Stenico Castle was the residence of Prince-Bishop Bernardo Clesio and, for a long period, of the Principality and Bishopric of Trento’s governor in the Giudicarie Valley.
 The architecture of some of the houses still shows their noble past. Of interest are the Castle, the Grotte di Fraporte (an enormous cave in the Laone Valley at 1,436 metres, about 90 minutes away on path no. 346) and the Rio Blanco waterfall which is just a few minutes away from the town centre along local road no. 34 for Ragoli.
