Municipalities and resorts around the Brenta Dolomites,Trentino: Cles, Valle di Non. Cles is the main town
of the Non Valley. It stands on the western shores of Lake Santa Giustina.
The town’s history stretches back at least as far as 46 AD when Emperor
Claudius bestowed citizenship on the inhabitants of the Non Valley with the
“Tavola Clesiana” edict which still survives today. The main sights to
see are the Palazzo Assessorile manor house and the parish church of the
Assunta built in the Gothic-Renaissance style. Cles Castle overlooks the lake;
however, it is privately owned and not open to the public. |
