The village is prehistoric in origin and in the Middle Ages it was the fief of the local nobles. Although the village itself is small, its Municipality owns a very large tract of land. Tuenno is the gateway to the Tóvel Valley and to Lake Tóvel, whose waters were once famous for their red colour, a phenomenon that no longer occurs. The main activity in the village, as in the rest of the Non Valley, is intensive apple-growing.
